Who are we? What is our purpose?

We are believers committed to the gospel who consider testifying about Jesus Christ a life goal. We strive to do this creatively, using modern technology and our God-given gifts in music, dance and creative imagery. The instrument: creation and release of a global video.

How can we join? By registering using the sign up form on the home page

Groups and individuals

What is the minimum number for a group? We suggest you create a group of minimum 50 people. We do encourage you to organize groups with as many participants as possible. Currently the largest group signing up has 2,000 participants. We are sure that each participant can bring one more person along. Participation with a smaller number is only acceptable in a special case, such as an extraordinary location. Be creative in your location selection however take necessary safety precautions that will ensure that all participants are safe. For guidelines for your location selection, please refer to “What kind of location should we choose” section.

Training

I am not a professional dancer and have no training, can I also apply? Of course you can! Our goal is that anyone who is committed and wants to take part can join in. Our choreographer will create the dance in a way that it will be easy to learn and still spectacular. However, we do recommend that a person trained in choreography and familiar with dance arts should lead the training. Important: Please, do not modify the choreography in any way.

What kind of help do we get for the training? We will provide resources such as training videos and dance instructions on the UptoFaith web site. These will be available soon. Should you have any questions concerning the dance, send us an email and we will answer you. Important: The trailer on the website is not the dance itself. It is only used for promotional purposes.

How many rehearsals should we have? At least 4 rehearsals with the entire group plus one dress rehearsal. These should be preceded by the individual or small group learning of the dance (based on the video). Important: The trailer on the website is not the dance itself. It is only used for promotional purposes.

How much time does it take to learn the dance? Based on the suggestion that you have 4 group rehearsals and one dress rehearsal, the dance can be learned in a month by having 1 rehearsal per week.

Group rehearsals cannot be carried out due to geographical distance or other obstacles. What shall we do? If, due to any reason, group rehearsals cannot be carried out, then it is absolutely necessary that small groups learn the choreography fully and have at least one rehearsal where everyone is present.

We have already started the training, but new people would like to join in. What shall we do? As the time of the dance approaches, there will be more and more people who would like to join you. Nevertheless, to protect the unity and standard of the dance, we suggest that you only include persons who take the matter and the dance seriously. We designed the dance in such a way, that the number of people participating could increase during the time of training. However, three weeks prior to the day of the dance no more new people should be included. Important: The choreography contains certain configurations, which demand that there not be any missing people. This is why it is important that those who start the training stick to it to the end. A hole here and there will detract from the overall effect of the dance.

Should we make videos during rehearsals? In case you have a chance, you should record rehearsals, discussions and meetings. These should be edited. The best ones will be used to make a clip and put on the website. Important: Regarding your “behind the scenes” video, we ask you not to upload your cut or uncut videos on Youtube or other portals, even if you only want to make them accessible to a limited audience only.

Should we take photos of the dance? Yes, it is strongly advised to make quality photos of the dance itself and the preparations. Important: Make sure to make a group photo, with everyone participating in the project present. These pictures can be uploaded to uptofaith.com in the future.

Technical preparation and implementation

In what quality shall the dance be recorded? We suggest you use the following technical parameters: Minimal requirements: Widescreen 16:9 (720 x 576) Also acceptable: 1280 x 720p, HDV (1440 x 1080)] Maximum resolution: 1920 x 1080p File types: only mov and mpeg File size limit: 2,5 Gb Concerning technical questions there will be further information available on our website soon. Further acceptable formats and parameters: We would like to encourage you to improve the quality of your recording with all available tools. If lifts, crane or helicopter cameras or other “extreme tools” are available, they can make the final product much more spectacular. In case these tools are not readily available, we suggest you consider renting them.

How should the sound be engineered? Try to use the most dynamic speakers and system possible because sound is easily lost in open air. The louder the music, the happier the participants will be and this will definitely show in the pictures! The speakers and the sound-system should be tested prior to the main event. You do not want to discover too late that there are not enough speakers, the cables are not long enough or there is a problem with the power. We suggest that you involve a professional sound technician.

Where should we upload the edited video? You should upload the edited video on UpToFaith.com within one week after the recording is done. It will take us one week to prepare the Global video from the uploaded materials. Important: We ask you not to upload the edited or unedited videos to Youtube or other portals, even if you want to make it accessible for a limited audience only. After publishing of the global video, all local videos will be made available as well. In case participants would like to see the edited video, we suggest you organize a private viewing for them only, but we strongly ask you not to share the material on pen-drives or via other media.

Why are we asking you not to upload videos after the dance? In order to achieve the highest impact possible by publishing the edited video.

Who edits Global videos? The global video will be edited by a team of experienced specialists. As a reference please watch the 2010 Resurrection Dance video.

How to increase our chances of participating in the Global Video? We will consider the following factors for the Global video: - The technical quality of the vide - How interesting and spectacular the location of the dance is - The size of the dancing crowd - The quality of the directing and editing work of the video (Please do not forget that these are only guidelines, each and every video will be evaluated individually. Therefore, even if the quality is not excellent but your location selection is extraordinary and surprising, you still have the chance to be in the video.) Important message from the organizers: We would like to assure you that we will do our utmost to include as many dances as possible in the Global video. However, we cannot guarantee that we will use parts of every video sent. Once the Global video is created, we will upload all videos on uptofaith.com. In this way many people will see the result of your project. Following the release of the Global video we plan to create further selections and remixes of the participating videos.

Organizing the dance

How to organize the dance? We suggest that you choose a coordinator who has experience in organizing events.

How to promote the event? In order to reach the most people with the preparation for the dance and then with the global and local videos, it is important to have someone responsible for promotion in your team. Preferably you should choose a person who has experience in public relations or journalism. We provide the following materials (downloadable on the website) for contacting the local and nationwide media: - Press releases, written materials - Stickers, posters, flyers - Collection of promotional ideas - Communication guidelines

What type of location should we choose? We suggest considering the following factors when choosing the location: - Safety of the location - Historical sight, an emblematic building in your city - Beautiful natural surroundings - City view, or a town square - Extraordinary locations, for example: a beach, a mountaintop, a forest, underwater shots, a snow-covered landscape Important message from the organizers: Choose a location where the safety of all participants is guaranteed. In case of an extraordinary location, take extra measures to ensure safety. We do encourage groups to seek professional help and/or people who have experience with similar events to ensure that required safety precautions are in place to protect participants. If there is any doubt regarding the safety of a location, please select a different one. Matthew 4:7 - Do not test the Lord your God.

What type of clothes should we wear for the dance? The more colorful crowd you are, the better. Tip: Some of you can dance in clothes representing your local culture, this way you can present the local traditions. Important: Obviously, whatever is worn should be modest and in line with Christian morals.

Legal terms and conditions and permission from authorities

What terms and conditions apply to UptoFaith Dance 2011? Although UptoFaith Dance 2011is a global event, you and your church are the local organizers. Therefore: - Local organizer(s) bear all liability of the local event. - The organization of UptoFaith takes no legal liability whatsoever for the local event. - Local organizer(s) indemnify the UptoFaith organization against any legal or other claims concerning your local event. - Any actions, communications with authorities and or other organizations concerning the local event should be carried out in the name of the local organizer. Further requests and legal disclaimer of the organization of UptoFaith: - Do not use the dance for provocative purposes, and do not add political overtones - Do not connect the dance with another event (e.g. evangelism, etc.) - For the sake of unity, please avoid the use of banners, denominational logos, and other forms of advertisement - By uploading a video of the dance, you agree to the partial or complete use thereof, and shall not have further claims - Please do not modify or distribute the UptoFaith song for profit - The song may only be used for the dance and the video - If you experience atrocities, please be sure to inform local law enforcement and follow state laws. - The organization of UptoFaith shall not be liable to any legal consequences of the local event Copyright © 2010 Faith Church, Sandor Nemeth, Happy Sunday. All rights reserved. All the related materials including the UptoFaith logo, song, dance choreography, and content on UptoFaith.com are under copyright protection (they can be used only with the written permission of the author. For more information, contact us via E-mail: [email protected]) Please remember that by participating in the dance, you automatically accept the above terms and conditions.

What permission do we need to get? As regulations are different per country (or even by state in the USA) we ask you to strictly comply with the relevant local rules and regulations while organizing the event. Romans 13:1 - Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Start inquiring about the necessary permission and their deadlines well in advance and allocate enough time for organizing the event, so that your participation will not be hindered. Important: Although the UptoFaith dance is a global event, you and your church are the local organizers. As a result you bear the liability of the local event. When coordinating with and requesting approval from the local authorities, you should proceed in the name of the local organizer.

Christianity is forbidden in my country, or there are other cultural or social obstacles to organizing the dance. What should I do? - If you are organizing the dance in a country where such Christian activities are prevented by the laws/authorities, please pay special attention to compliance. The dance is expected to receive widespread publicity globally. It is not desirable that your church would experience trouble later on. Be creative in finding a solution. As the Master says: Be as innocent as doves and as shrewd as serpents. - If it is completely forbidden to spread the Gospel in your country, and if your congregation is an underground church, please let us know, so that we may communicate with you accordingly. Under Communism Faith Church was considered illegal for more than a decade, so we are familiar with the situation. - If the participants of the dance experience problems, or are persecuted once the video is published, please be sure to let us know. In this case, we recommend recording a video in a way in which the participants cannot be identified. For example, they can be shown from the back, or you can record only their legs or their shadows, etc. In light of the above, if you run into obstacles that prevent you from organizing the dance, we would be grateful if you would contribute to the success of the project with your prayers.
